Redux 003

Redux 003 by Kaskade is an album packed with addicting songs that play tribute to a plethora of House music genres. Each track has a unique sound that takes us on a journey through energetic, fast beats and low, emotional bass lines. Quickly after its release in May 2019, majority of the songs on the album became signature summer party anthems across the world. This album, among many others of Kaskade’s provides the house music industry with exciting, fun tracks that relentlessly make you dance.

Process.

Brief

  • Select a contemporary music album you know well and connect with, but find the visual design of the album to be a poor representation of the music

  • Develop a cohesive visual concept for this full album by creating a vinyl redesign, coupled with merchandise and platform translation

Research

  • Listen to the entire album multiple times

  • Define the artist’s brand and message

  • Understand the lyrics

  • Research the audience and artist’s industry

Execution

  • Tri-fold album prototype

  • Screen printed bandana design

  • Spotify application

  • Music Visualizer

The final outcome was made using inspiration from the current album’s color palette and visualization of lyrics. The overall imagery is built upon the line “pour the milk” from the track “The Diner”, a reinvigorated recording of Suzanne Vega's “Tom's Diner”.

The additional supportive assets were created with Kaskade’s audience in mind. Considering his large house presence, he is an avid festival player where bandana’s are popularly worn and bought. The audio visualizer is an expansion on the album design that touches on the common visuals that are often displayed on stage with Kaskade’s performances.
